Epidural

Injected into the epidural space, usually lumbar region

Hypodermic

hypo injected under the skin;refers to subcutanous and intramuscular routes

Intradermal

ID Given under the skin in the layer, usually gluteal muscles, thigh or deltoid

Intramuscular

IM Given into the muscle of the layer just below the epidermis

Intrathecal

Given into the spinal canal

Intravenous

IV Given into the vein

Intravenous Piggy back

IVPB Given into the vein via a small container attached to an establishment intrvenous line

Subcutaneous

subcut Given beneath the skin, usually into the fat layer of abdomen, upper arm, or thigh

Parenteral Nutrition

PN Nutrtional feedings per intravenous line into a large vein.
