In this class I will be demonstrating some tips and tricks to painting in a more expressive and painterly manner. After going through some key tips and tricks I will demonstrate how to implement them in a full painting demonstration. The demonstration is in acrylic on paper however you could also use canvas. Painting in this expressive way does take practice and a lot of confidence so don't be discouraged if you find it hard or messy to begin with. Keep working at it and practising.

What you'll learn from this class:
In this class, we will learn about using objects we find in nature and combining them with India Ink to create motifs for design work. Flowers, leaves, twigs, grass, even rocks can be looked at in a new and inspiring way. Once captured on paper, those images can be turned into digital format using Adobe Illustrator its Image Trace tool. We will learn about using this tool, even without prior experience using the program. Within a short amount of time, we will have digital images ready to be used on a variety of projects. If you are looking to expand your design ideas, or simply want to use the inspiration from your own surroundings, this class will help you grab that moment in nature and capture its beauty tangibly. In this class, we are going to play and experiment with acrylic inks and gold mica ink to explore and create some fun abstracts. I love using this intuitive painting kind of process to explore my supplies and my colors. I always end up with fun things and it combines 2 of my favorite ways to create - tape pealing... and cutting up pieces if I see a better composition in finished pieces.
By practicing drawing and painting everyday, this class aims to help you to be inspired to create, maintain a working practice that is suited to you and learn lots of tips on how to successfully fill your sketchbook. Your collection of sketches can be the stepping stone to creating larger pieces of finished artworks, or just be a beautiful journal that you can keep and refer to.
