I wrote these words three years ago, and my concern led me to create my first Stanford Online course, "Living at the Nuclear Brink." Our nuclear peril continues to increase, and therefore I offer the next in our series of free courses on this vital subject: The Threat of Nuclear Terrorism. The topic is frightening, but it is one we must face if we are to have any chance of stopping potential catastrophe.
This course encourages educators to engage students with the Smithsonian Institution’s experts and collections (both tangible and digital), as they follow Montgomery College-Smithsonian Faculty (MCSF) Fellows on their virtual 2021 series, “Addressing 21st-Century Challenges.”
In five weeks, we explore some of the major challenges, approaches and strategies for addressing pressing, complex socio-environmental issues in the classroom, using critical action as a pedagogical perspective. Optionally, you will be able to collaborate with peers from around the world to design actual critical action curriculum.
