"Innovating Instruction: Designing Technology-Infused Projects for STEM" is an introductory-level course designed to empower middle school teachers and administrators with the knowledge and skills needed to create engaging, technology-enhanced projects across all disciplines, with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This course combines cutting-edge research in learning sciences with practical, hands-on experience in project design, offering educators a unique opportunity to revolutionize their teaching methods and prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
This course is primarily designed for middle school teachers and administrators, preferably with teaching certification. While no specific technical skills are required, participants should have a basic familiarity with educational technology and a willingness to explore new teaching methods.

This course encourages educators to engage students with the Smithsonian Institution’s experts and collections (both tangible and digital), as they follow Montgomery College-Smithsonian Faculty (MCSF) Fellows on their virtual 2021 series, “Addressing 21st-Century Challenges.”
The Introduction to 21st Century Skills course is for faculty and other postsecondary instructors who want to improve how their students are learning four “21st century skills”, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and self-motivated learning. This course provides a foundation in instructional design and how these skills are best viewed in cultural terms, with practical tips for how to best design and teach college-level courses and programs that cultivate these complex competencies. This course is part 1 of a 3-course program.
The hybrid course guides teams of educators in the collaborative development of a multidimensional, educative rubric for a science performance assessment following SNAP’s principled design process. Participants also learn how to use their rubric as part of efficient, responsive, and equitable instructional practices for supporting all students' progress toward 3-dimensional reasoning.
